The motherboard is H8SCM-F. In BIOS, under “processor and clock options” there is “power cap” option. What does “power cap” do?

Answer
Power cap option is for constrain CPU not to exceed specific state. It has 5 different states from P-state 0 to P-state 4. For example, opteron 4228’s P-state 0 is 2.8GHz, which means CPU cannot exceed 2.8GHz. P-state 3 is 2GHz, which means CPU cannot exceed 2GHz.
