Just a question regarding SAS flash. Our SSG-6047R-E1R36L has a LSI 2308 controller with IT mode ( JBOD ) flash installed. One option is to use the raid option of the device.

Question: Is it possible and supported to simply use the raid flash ( IR? ) firmware on the system to have a 2308 with hardware raid or do we need an additional controller to have this setup.

It is possible to flash your 2308 controller to IR mode so that you can make raid solutions, but it will still be a software raid solution, because the 2308 is a software raid controller. And the procedure has to be done in the bios efi shell (special procedure). Please contact Supermicro support for efi update procedure.
