Question
I am considering purchasing X9DR3-F-O and have a couple of questions:

1. Is there any issue with populating the board with 1 CPU initially and then adding a second down the road? I assume it will boot with 1 CPU installed as long as the RAM is installed in the CPU1 DIMM slots, right?
2. Are there any restrictions to adding the second CPU? For example, if I install an E5-2620 now and then add an E5-2620 in 6 months, do they have to have the same CPU stepping?

Answer
1/ Your motherboard will work with only 1 CPU (CPU1), and memory DIMM slots for CPU1. You can add another CPU anytime later on.
2/ You must use an identical CPU later on for CPU2.
