There is a 2" x 3" foam strip with tape backing comes with the MCP-220-00043-0N 2.5" hot-swap tray. What's this for?

Answer
Some 2.5-inch hard drives have a thickness of 12.5 millimeters, as opposed to 9.5 millimeters in other 2.5-inch drives. The foam strip is used to fill up the gap between the hard drive and the bracket. You don’t need to use it when a thicker drive is in use. The PCB side of the HDD shall point away from the bracket.
