On motherboard X9DRW-3/iF, X9DRG-QF, and X9DRX+-F not only they have 24-pin power connector and 8-pin but they also have 4-pin. Is 4-pin required to plug in?

Only 24-pin and 8-pin connectors are required. Plugging in the 4-pins are optional but will improve power efficiency
