We have X7DWU with latest R 1.2c BIOS and RHEL 5.8 loaded, and when booting up, it gives “Trying to update CPU microcode” message and says Failed afterwards. Although the system continue to boot, we want to see if it is possible to get rid of this error message. The CPU used is E5420.
X7DWU v1.2c BIOS was released 2 years ago and CPU microcode is not newer than RHEL5.8 has. Actually this is only a warning, not a big deal. Users can just ignore it.
