I installed IPMIView on the server that contains the IPMI card and tried to Discover IPMI Device and it was not found. I also tried to manually add the server and it just showed up as offline. So no matter what I tried, I could not get the IPMI card recognized. Am I doing something wrong or do I have a bad card?
As IPMIview is installed in the same system, the outgoing and incoming NW traffic are passing through the same port, creating a loop. As a loop is formed you cannot access IPMI. You have to install IPMIview on a different system or use dedicated LAN port (if present) and then access the IPMI.
