Question
In the X8SIL-F/-V motherboard BIOS under Advance à SATA/Floppy Configuration, what do “SATA #1 configuration” and “SATA #2 configuration” refer to?

Answer
When you set “SATA #1 configuration” as [IDE] mode, there will be two “IDE mode” controllers. One controller controls SATA port 0, 1, 2, and 3. The other one controls SATA port 4 and 5. So if you set [Disable] “SATA #2 configuration” in the BIOS, you would not be able to see or use SATA port 4 and 5. (And vice-versa) When you set “SATA #1 configuration” as [AHCI] or [RAID] mode, you will only see one “AHCI” or “RAID” controller. In this case, it would control all 6 SATA ports on the motherboard.
