Yes, SMC boards follow PCIe 3.0 standard specification and are backward compatible.
Based on PCI-SIG (PCIe specification Working Group), PCIe 3.0 devices are both backward
and forward compatible. Some device manufacturers and vendors built non-compliant PCIe
devices and they could be problematic. Please confirm with manufacturer for the specific
