I am testing nVidia Geforce GTX-680 on X9DRG-QF/7047GR-TPRF with two sandy bridge CPU, and found GTX-680 cannot operate at PCI-e Gen3. Similar problem can be found on X9SRG-F/1017GR-TF. Is there anything I should upgrade to support it?
Tesla and Quadro solutions with the same GPU as on GeForce GTX-690, GTX-680 or Titan are only spec'd to PCI-E Gen2 for workstations and servers.
You can try following to force the cards work at PCI-e gen3, but do keep in mind that this is not a supported speed and can result in degraded performance or other issues.
for RHEL6, you can enable PCIe 3.0 speeds in the latest nVidia driver(need to be 313.18 or later version) via these command lines:
#rmmod nvidia
#modprobe nvidia NVreg_EnablePCIeGen3=1
If you want to make this the default setting you can add a file to /etc/modprobe.d that contains the line:
options nvidia NVreg_EnablePCIeGen3=1
The file must have a name that ends with ".conf", for example /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-force-gen3.conf would be a good file name.
for windows 7, you can run the tool in below link with a command prompt with Admin privileges

Please restart the system after the patch is applied.
