Question
I installed a new server with the Supermicro X7DVL-I motherboard inside. The server can stay in BIOS configuration without the auto shutdown. However, if I let it move passing the POST screen, the system will shutdown by itself within a minute without any audio or visual warning. There is a short beep before the power down, though. Do I have a bad motherboard?

Answer
It may not be a bad motherboard. Please reinstall the CPU heatsink again & make sure it's leveled on the CPU. Make sure also the thermal paste is applied properly. In addition, please confirm that the power supply is not under-loaded, so it will not turn itself off, because of its under-current protection. You may also need to try the different memory. Please install the DIMMs in pairs in the slots DIMM1A & DIMM2A.
