I have X8DA3 motherboard. Can I run SATA hard drives off of the Intel SATA II controller (ICH10R) and the LSI SAS controller at the same time?

Yes both embedded on-board controller are independent, the SATA hard drives can be use on both controller at same time but do not mix SATA and SAS hard drives on same controller.
