We currently need to generate a NMI manualy (without the use of watchdog functions). Is there a way to do this either through the hardware (button), or IMPI?

There is one command
#ipmitool power diag

On the ipmitool manpage (http://ipmitool.sourceforge.net/manpage.html) the description is
“diag

Pulse a diagnostic interrupt (NMI) directly to the processor(s).
“
