Question
I recently bought a supermicro x9scl server motherboard along with a Xeon E3-1230 V2 Ivy Bridge 3.3GHz LGA 1155 69W Quad-Core Server Processor and Kingston 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM ECC Registered DDR3 1333 Server Memory DR x4 Intel Model KVR13R9D4K2/16I. When trying to power them all up I get the error beep code for memory not detected. I tried the memory and CPU in another setup and they both work fine so I believe it is an issue with the motherboard. Do you have any suggestion?

Answer
Kingston KVR13R9D4K2/16i is ECC registered DIMM (RDIMM), and it is wrong type for X9SCL motherboard. You need to use DDR3 ECC Un-Buffered memory (UDIMM). Please get the correct type of memory and try again.
