Question
The customer has a legacy chassis we may not have in our current product line and it works with backplane: BPN-SAS-846EL1. Now he updates HDs from SAS to SAS2 and wonders if the backplane: BPN-SAS2-846EL1 could be used on the same chassis.The customer thinks this chassis may be the old version of SC846E16-R1200B.

Answer
The customer should be able to swap BPN-SAS-846EL1 with BPN-SAS2-846EL1, but doing so is not supported by Super Micro and will void warranty.
