We are interested in fitting 36x 600GB SAS HDDs and in having a RAID controller for the drives on the SC847E16-R1400LP chassis. How many ports are there on the backplane for the RAID card to connect to? Are there a number of SAS ports on the back per HDD?

On the SC847E16, you can connect the 36 drives with just one i-pass connector from your controller. Please use a controller that can handle 36+ drives. There are 2 backplanes, 1 in the front and 1 in the back of the chassis.
