Question
Motherboard C2SBC-Q has four COM ports. After installing XP, I checked the COM3 & COM4 settings and found the COM3 was 238 IRQ10 and COM4 was220 IRQ5. (The BIOS setting: COM3 is 220 IRQ5, and COM4 is 238 IRQ10.) Is it normal?

Answer
C2SBC-Q BIOS reports COM3 as ACPI \ PNP0501 \ 3 and COM4 as ACPI \ PNP0501 \ 4.

During the XP installation, PNP enumeration will decide the device sequence. The last item that is detected can be listed first. It's OS installation behavior. BIOS cannnot do anything with it.

After the installation is complete, the user can remove the COM3 and COM4, and then re-scan the two. At this moment, PNP enumeration will not be active, so the COM3 and COM4 can be applied.
