Question
If I reset the config, is it possible to re-apply the IP address without using the webinterface?

When i want to reset IPMI, do I have to physically remove power from the power supplies, can the IPMI
card not be rebooted using the "unit reset" in the IPMI card web interface?
Is the "power cycle server" power control option enough to do this, or does
power have to be physically removed?

Answer
You can do this with IPMICFG tool

Perform an IPMI module Reset:

1. Use IPMICFG –fd for reset to factory default (https://www.supermicro.com/wdl/utility/IPMICFG/ )
2. Remove AC power cord for ~3 minutes
3. Use IPMICFG to set mac address an IP Adress.
4. Default password: is ADMIN /ADMIN again.

Set IP:
1. Use IPMICFG -m ###.###.###.###

The best way is to remove power for 30 seconds, to clear all cache memory and setting, and initialize IPMI again. But it is not mandatory. Only problem you “can” get is that some “old” setting is not changed because it was loaded in the memory of the system at that time.
