We have lots of ECC/reg modules from our X8-series servers with Xeon 34xx can we use them if we want to use the new X9-series with E3 Xeons? Do your x9 boards and cpus run as well with the buffered memory which was needed for X8-series?

No, When using E3 CPU's the CPU's memory controller and board chipset supports only ECC unbuffered memory modules.
