Question
I tried to install Vmware vSphere 4.1 U3 on a Super Micro SYS-1027R-WRF4+ (motherboard Super Micro X9DRW-3LN4F). I found this motherboard in HCL compatible with Vmware vSphere 5 only. My motherboard BIOS version is 1.0b when in HCL is showed 1.0a.So, look like it must work, but it doesn't, even I configured RAID1, vSphere 5.1 see hard drives separately. Do you have any suggestion to make vsphere 5.1 work on RAID1? It will be great if the system will work with vSphere 4.1 as we have license for it.

Answer
With on-board Intel C606 SAS or SATA, Raid is not supported under Vmware OS because Intel does not have any raid driver support for Vmware OS. If you need to install Vmware OS, you need to configure on-board Intel C606 SAS or SATA controller as none-raid support.
