Question
We have a X8DAH+-F and when we run our application the board gets stuck. We think that the SMBus is held up by the BMC. What could be the cause and is there a fix for it in a new IPMI fw?

Answer
There is no fix for it through IPMI FW. When the SMBus hangs, you need to do an AC Power Cycle on the system to clear the SMBus and recover its functionality.
The hang may be caused by more than one program requesting access to that SMBus at once.
Please check your application if it needs to have access to the SMBus. If you do not need to use IPMI, we suggest you purchase the X8DAH+ model, without the "-F", this board does not have IPMI embedded on it. This way you can use your application to access the SMBus. Usually there is a jumper on the board to disable IPMI, but this model doesn't have that jumper.
