I noticed in BIOS download page, X9D* boards with a BIOS 2.xx update
requires updating IPMI 2.xx first. The exact wording is as follows:
“The IPMI firmware rev. 2.10 or later is required for this version of BIOS.
Please update the IPMI firmware first, before updating this BIOS.”
Is this also a requirement for X9S* boards?
It's not a hard requirement. If everything is working fine for you then
you don't need to update BIOS or IPMI. If you plan to update to a newer
BIOS 2.xx, then updating to latest IPMI is the best way to go. It has
been validated by our lab. Older versions may not get full validation.
