I currently have a Supermicro X7SPA-H which will not power up in a Supermicro SC502-200B chassis. On pages 2-14 through 2-16 of the manual, it shows this motherboard with the ATX 12v DC power connector and it is required for use yet actual motherboard has no connector but only silkscreen at J7. The chassis and motherboard will show a link LED when I connect a live cat5 wire. When I power the chassis off, the
motherboard emits a short squeal noise.
We would like to suggest using SC502"L"-200B (this is the 502 chassis with PWS-202-1H) instead SC502-200B due to thermal concern.
And we believed there was using the wrong SO-DIMM. For X7SPA series, you need to use x8 type SO-DIMM, x16 or x4 will not work with this motherboard. Please refer to our suggest memory list on our web site for getting the right SO-DIMM module.
For your reference, the Testing Memory List is attached below.
