I have two servers connected directly to the same AOM-SSE-X2C module in a SSE-G24-TG4(firmware version 1.0.7-7) switch. The problem I have is that testing the connection from server 'a' to server 'b' I get almost 10gb/s as expected, but when I test it from 'b' to 'a' I get only 200Mb/s. When I connect both servers directly (without the switch in the middle) I do not have that problem. The switch has almost no change to the default configuration, is there anything that I might be forgetting to setup that could affect the connection that way?
The length of the cable may contribute a factor to this issue.
1. Please try a different longer or shorter cable.
2. Upgrade the firmware to 1.0.9 from https://www.supermicro.com/wdl/Firmware/Switch/SBM-GEM-X2C_SSE-G24-TG4_SSE-G48-TG4/Release-1.0.9/.
3. If it still not fix, please use the terminal console to set the cable length:
"cx4-length short" or "cx4-length long"
This command is only available in this new firmware.
The short setting is for cable between 1M & 7M. The long setting is for cable between 5M & 12M. Please also swap the port on the X2C module to see if the problem follows the server.
