Question
The MB is X8DAE. The system hung at Driver CD loading screen when onboard Intel RAID enabled. Neither hitting key H nor waiting for 5 seconds made system to boot. Any idea?

Answer
The boot loader of the Driver CD is implemented by PC-DOS and it can only accept legacy IO. When you set SATA controller to RAID mode, it’s working in native mode which had not appeared yet in DOS age. That’s why we cannot boot it up. This is a limitation of PC-DOS.
The way to avoid such situation is changing the first boot priority to HDD instead of DVD-ROM in BIOS setting after OS installation, if onboard SATA RAID function is enabled.
