I believe this is due to the use of IR or MegaRAID firmware on the 2108 vs IT firmware. Do you have an IT firmware image available for the LSI 2108 on the BPN-ADP-SAS2-H6iR?

The BPN-ADP-SAS2-H6iR embedded with LSI 2108 chipset is supported hardware raid and there is no IT firmware available for the LSI 2108 chipset.
