Question
I need to get the BIOS version for 200 systems running on MBD-X8SIL-F motherboards and I'd rather not reboot each system to the BIOS configure to get this data… Is there a way to get that via IPMI or some other utility that I could run within Linux?

Answer
In Linux OS, you could run ‘dmidecode’ command to get BIOS information.
For example:
BIOS Information
Vendor: American Megatrends Inc.
Version: 2.1a
Release Date: 12/30/2011
Address: 0xF0000
Runtime Size: 64 kB
ROM Size: 4096 kB
