Question
For SIMxx IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) card, how do you get the e-mail alerts to work? I have tried using the System Health-->Alert Settings page on the web interface to the IPMI card. However, a filter needs to be set up. There are several fields on the filter page that are not explained (e.g. Sensor Number, Sensor Type, Generator ID, etc...). Can you provide a description of what goes in these fields?

Answer
Here is the example to enable the SNMP trap/Email alert when any event happens.

FF means enable every event, does not mask any event

Some question you may have

1) I assume the Destination entry is the number of the destination of the entry in the LAN Destination List. Is that correct?

Yes that is correct

2) I assume the Policy Set entry is the number of the Filter in the IPMI Filter List. Is that right?

The Policy Set entry is the number of the alert policy in the IPMI Filter List.

3) What does the Channel No. field represent?

LAN channel is 1, specs define serial/modem but we don’t use this now.

4) What does the Alert String field represent?

It is needed when you use serial/modem way to send trap.

There are hundreds of combination for the sensors and it is pretty complicated. Sensor codes are attached. Please refer to the Sensor codes to set the desired configuration.
