I am planning on buying the SYS-1028R-MCTR server. I am planning to install one CPU only and add the 2nd CPU later on. Will the riser card only this system work with just one CPU installed?

The SYS-1028R-MCTR comes with the RSC-RR1U-E8 riser card, which is installed on PCI-E SLOT # 6. On the SYS-1028R-MCTR, PCI-E SLOT #6 is attached to CPU1 and in this case, the riser card will still work with a single CPU configuration.
