I’m answering your question in a general way since I don’t know which particular product you are referring to. 384GB can only be achieved if you use LRDIMM memory, and two 32GB DIMMs per channel. So what this means is you can only use total 12 modules and not all 18. With 32GB technology, the chipset cannot support 3 DIMMs per channel.
