Supermicro® Secure OpenStack Solution

Protecting sensitive data against cybersecurity threats is becoming a daunting task for every IT professional. Software-only defense options such as perimeter firewalls are no longer sufficient against threats that target deeper layers of the platform stack. A comprehensive, multi-layered full-stack approach is needed to safeguard high-value, sensitive data by ensuring every component of the platform is in a trusted state.

Supermicro, Intel, Lockheed Martin, and Canonical have partnered to create a unique Secure OpenStack Solution that offers robust security from boot through runtime with high Quality of Service (QoS) and deterministic performance supporting virtualized environments. This hyper-converged solution provides end users with the full range of attribute based security controls and security policies that can be signed by individual tenants or cloud service providers. This solution is based on the Intel Select Solution for Hardened Security with Lockheed Martin, the entire cluster (compute/storage) is secured from boot to application by Chain of Trust and provides a strengthened approach to:

  • Protect the most sensitive applications and data at the edge of cloud and in data centers
  • Address a broad class of threats with growing sophistication by utilizing proactive security isolation
  • Provides preservation of performance while maximizing security through tenant isolation

This solution, which combines Security and QoS is best suited for secure, deterministic workloads often found in federal and financial services as well as critical infrastructures.

Highlights

  • Intel Hardened Security nodes are fully integrated into OpenStack
  • Attributes Based Security Controls Compliant (NIST 800-53 Draft R5)
  • Systems are secured from boot
  • System integrity is maintained at start/reset
  • Virtualized workloads are isolated & protected
  • Security policies can be signed by tenants or Cloud Service Providers
