Are the onboard RAID SAS controllers on Supermicro boards compatible with SAS Expander?

Answer
Boards with 2208 based controller onboard do support Expander chassis but limited to max 16 drives.
Boards with 2308 based controller onboard and the extention -JBOD also support expander up to 122 drives.
For all other boards, we advise to use an add-on controller.
