Question
I lost the BMC ADMIN user's password and my linux OS root user password. Are you able to find the default BMC user password for me if I provide the serial number of my server or motherboard?

Answer
As we have difficulty to check the ownership of the server, user is suggested to run software utilities like ipmitool or Supermicro proprietary utility on the server to change the BMC user password.

with ipmitool in linux:
1. print the BMC user list.
# ipmitool user list 1
2. set user password.
# ipmitool user set password 2 [new password]

a similar FAQ and example of the commands can be found in the link below.

with ipmicfg in linux, here is the command to change password for user ADMIN with ID 2.
1. print BMC user list
# ./IPMICFG-Linux.x86_64 -user list
2. an example to change the password of user with ID number 2.
# ./IPMICFG-Linux.x86_64 -user setpwd 2 [new password]
