I have your X8SIL-F motherboard but I can’t mount the CPU heat sink. Do I need to have CPU heat sink retention bracket? If yes what is the part number and where can I order one.

Yes, it is required install the CPU retention bracket underneath the motherboard. The part number is BKT-0028L and yes is can be order from Super Micro RMA department. Contact: rma@supermicro.com or call 1-408-503-8000 press 3.
