Today I upgraded the memory of my server whose main board is Supermicro 370DL3/DLE to 4GB. I found that when the server booted, it displayed the amount of system memory is 4032M but not 4096M. I feel very strange with this. Does it mean there is something wrong with my memory or my main board?
No, this doesnâ??t mean your memory or board is bad. This is do to the 4GB memory limitation on the chipset. Once you get up to the 4GB memory limitation, the BIOS will reserve certain amount of memory for the PCI Bridge. The more devices you have in the PCI slots, the more memory it will reserve.
