Supermicro is aware of the security issue where flooding the host system with a large number of malformed System Management Interrupts (SMIs) may make it possible for a guest virtual machine (VM) to trigger a fatal machine check error (MCE) on the host potentially causing a crash resulting in denial of service for all co-located guest VMs. AMD released mitigations for this vulnerability. This vulnerability affects BIOS in Supermicro H11, H12, H13, and H14 products.

Improper handling of direct memory writes in the input-output memory management unit could allow a malicious guest virtual machine (VM) to flood a host with writes, potentially causing a fatal machine check error resulting in denial of service.

Remediation:
- All affected Supermicro motherboard SKUs will require a BIOS update to mitigate this potential vulnerability.
- Updated BIOS firmware has been created to mitigate this potential vulnerability. Supermicro is currently testing and validating affected products. Please check Release Notes for the resolution.
