Question
Customer reported their new blade SBI-7427R-S3 (B9DR7) with CPU E5-2690 v2 does not post when booting up after Bios updated R3.0. What is going on?

They are using old E5-2687 processor to upgrade to BIOS R3.0 to support E5-2690 v2 processors. After done update, they switched out the old E5-2687 processor and put the new E5-2690 v2 processor in and system will not post. Even clear the CMOS still nothing happen.

However, if they put the old E5-2687 processor back in and the blade works fine.

Answer
To support new processor v2 series, your blade B9DR7 must be rev1.02.

-- For B9DR7 r1.01 MB, it only supports Sandy Bridge CPU, and the BIOS should use is R1.0b (b9dr72.c31) and no more BIOS upgrade.

-- For B9DR7 r1.02 MB, it can support both Sandy Bridge CPU and Ivy Bridge CPU. The latest BIOS is R3.0 (b9dr73.718) and we will continue to have BIOS upgrade.
