I have a question about X10DRL-C BIOS option. "Port 0 ~ Port 5 SATA Device Type (Available when a SATA port is detected)
Use this item to specify if the SATA port specified by the user should be connected to a Solid State drive or a Hard Disk Drive. The options are Hard Disk Drive and Solid State Drive. "
By default, Advanced\SATA Configuration\SATA Port 0\Port 0 SATA Device Type is set to HDD for all ports. Is this option strictly for informational purposes or does it actually change behavior of the port?

This is defined in Intel PCH BIOS Spec Rev 0.5.0, Section 17.5 Thermal Throttling. When change to “SSD,” the BIOS will set thermal throttle control port inactive and dispatch. We don’t have more information as what it’ll affect. This offers better compatibility for SSD. Some SSD models does require the change of “SSD”. |
