Question
I have an SC847E16-RJBOD1 with the CSE-PTJBOD-CB2 controller. As such the fans are running at 100% all of the time. I'd like to upgrade to the CSE-PTJBOD-CB3 so that I can have adjustable fan speeds.

Additionally, the CB3 has an IPMI port, for which I need a cable (CBL-NTWK-0587) and a bracket.

My question is, which bracket should I use to attach the cable to? I have a 4-port SAS bracket on the back of my SuperChassis currently. Is there anything else that I would need to replace the controller?
Answer
It is not recommended to upgrade to CSE-PTJBOD-CB3 due to it is for SAS3 chassis (example: SC847E2C-R1K28JBOD), not for SAS2 chassis.

In SAS3 chassis, there is a bracket accommodate SAS3 (not SAS2) external connectors and an RJ45 (for the external IPMI), such bracket is not for your SAS2 chassis. Parts involved installing CB3 on SAS3 chassis including MCP-120-84702-0N adapter bracket for mounting CSE-PTJBOD-CB3, CBL-NTWK-0587 (CAT 5e RJ45 extension cable for SC847D JBOD internal Male to the Female adapter with PCBA 500mm,24AWG), but no bracket for SAS2 chassis to mount the external RJ45 end of the CBL-NTWK-0587.
