Question
We have two 3Ware 9500S-8 SATA RAID controllers and both are used on the SC742T-550 and SC933T-R760 chassis. The 3Ware 8-port controller has two pins for each of the 8 drives connected to it. However, the ribbon cable from the SATA backplane has 10 connectors (one disabled). According to the 3Ware documentation: The odd-numbered pins, located on the bottom row, are 3.3V for the anode side of each LED to be connected. The even-numbered pins are the return or cathode side.

Any idea on how to get the SATA drive LED activity lights working with the 3Ware controller?

Use the SATA ribbon LED cable labeled “1234C” and “5678K” to connect the 8-port 3ware RAID controller according to the pin definition. The “C” common and “K” key pin header is unused. Please see the picture below for more detail.
