The IPMI card doesn't have SNMP agent running in it. However, it can be configured the alert settings to allow the IPMI firmware to send the SNMP trap to a monitoring server in the PET (Platform Event Trap) format. Below is the procedure to configure the alert:
1) In Alert Settings under System Health, enable a filter from the list and assign a policy number to Alert Policy. "0xFF" means all the events are enabled or no mask is applied.
2) Go to Policy List. Enable a policy. The Policy Set entry is the number of the alert policy in the IPMI Filter List. The Destination entry is the number of the destination of the entry in the LAN Destination List. Channel No. 1 is the LAN channel.
3) Go to LAN Destination List. Pick one LAN Destination entry from the list to edit. Select PET Alert as the Alert type, and configure the Community String in IPMI LAN Global Options.
4) After you finish the configuration, you should be able to receive the system alert notification. Below is an example of CPU over-heat alert event that will be sent from IPMI.
