Question
I have a X9DRL-iF motherboard, and moved my Perc 5/i Integrated Raid controller over from another ESXi 5.1 server. Whenever, I do a large copy operation to a single disk attached to the Perc 5/i controller, near the end of the copy during the cleanup phase, the volume dismounts. I upgraded the Perc 5/i controller to the latest A09 bios but the problem persists. I have not had this problem when the Perc 5/i raid controller was installed on my non-Supermicro ESXi 5.1 system.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Answer
To enable the Perc 5/i RAID controller to work with the Supermicro X9DRL-iF motherboard with ESX 5.1 installed, you need to disable the Intel VT-d in BIOS setup. Perc 5/i is incompatible the Intel i/o passthrough extension. Also, please note that the Perc 5/i RAID controller is not officially supported, we do not test for compatibility with this product.
