Question
We used BMC Web GUI to update X13DDW-A BIOS with the option "Immediate Update" checked.   At the end of updating the X13DDW-A motherboard BIOS from R1.0 (build date:6/3/2022) to R1.0a (build date: 11/3/2022), we were asked to reboot the system.  We then experienced the BMC reset and disconnected iKVM console HTML5 session.  The message from iKVM is:

"Server disconnected. (code: 1006)"

BMC is reset:

We still have a few systems to update.  Is there any way to prevent the reset, so we can continue to monitor the status?

Answer
The issue only occurs at the BIOS update between R1.0 and R1.0a, R1.1 or newer.  It happens no matter whether it's upgrading or downgrading.  The root cause is from the hardware definition change around the onboard LAN starting at BIOS R1.0a.  BMC thinks the network hardware environment has been changed, and therefore triggers the BMC reset.  There is no fix to stop the one-time only BMC reset.
